Who are we?

We are a small group of volunteers that are all inspired to make change!

We aim to to help as many people as we can, one step at a time.

Each walk leader has a different reason for joining the team and are open  and like minded people that are happy to be a listening ear.

    What we do

The Walk and Talk Project are a free to attend weekly wellbeing walks for men only, women only and mixed groups

We currently have two walks for women one in Loughborough and one in Shepshed

And a walk for men in Loughborough.

Also a mixed group in the day time

Men meet every Monday night at 7pm outside sports direct in Loughborough.

Ladies meet every Tuesday night 7pm

    Loughborough~sports direct

    Shepshed~outside church on Kirk hill

Loughborough Mixed group meet at the benches outside the community centre at Gorse covert ( near Morrisons)

We focus our walks around positive mental health and wellbeing whilst combating loneliness in Charnwood.

Our aim is to support people who maybe struggling at present by talking and getting out on the paths in the open air.

We have created  small communities of people who can talk to each other and support each other.

Each walk has its own WhatsApp group so we can support each other through the week and weekends.
We welcome people of all ages and different backgrounds to come along and join us on the walks.
Currently we have 8 walk leaders who all share the same passion of helping others

some of the leaders know about mental health personally with their own life experiences

and we have walk leaders that have devoted their careers working in mental health, we have a real mixed bunch of leaders, but all of them are ready to listen and provide support to all of our walkers.

our walk leaders have taken courses in walk leadership through the recognised Ramblers uk course , safe guarding and mental health first aid.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Our walks last about an hour in which we cover around 5 kilometres ( 3 miles)

unfortunately we can not let dogs on our walks as some people maybe allergic to them or even have a phobia of them.

we do however host separate dog walks, please get in contact with us or look at our social media for when the next dog walk is

our walks are aimed at 16yrs + but we do allow children 14+ when accompanied by an adult.

if wanting to bring younger children on the walks please speak with your walk leader.

We try to be as inclusive as possible to all but some of our routes do go off flat surfaces.

So we make sure our first walk of every month the route is flat pathed and wheelchair friendly.
